Paella, Shopping & iPAD Support

It all started when I found an unused Paella Pan in the house.  And, just that afternoon, there was a yummy scene of a cook making Paella during the Kentucky Derby show.  So, I decided to cook Paella - for the first time in 20 years.  This is where my iPAD was called into action.  An app called BigOven had a series of recipes and I selected the one with the most attractive picture and recipe.

Off to the grocery store, placing the iPAD in the shopping cart.  It was fun to walk around the store, selecting muscles, chicken, Spanish sausage and loads of spices. A few ingrediants were difficult to find - but great alternatives were easy to search for and purchase.

Got lots of attention and wonderful suggestions for Recipe 2.0:
  • Shopping GPS Map - lay out the items in an aisle by aisle order.
  • Check Closet Data Base - auto check what is currently in the kitchen - to make a shopping list more personal.
  • Show Ahead Option - press a button and head to a drive thru to pick up the assembled items.
  • Diet/Health Adaption - if a health condition requires recipe alteration - make those choices.
  • Discount for iPAD Shopping - why not "bid" out the recipe to several stores and let them bid with a discount and total price
It was an interesting use of the iPAD as both a learning tool (how to make Paella) and performance support app (guide my shopping and just in time learning).  Off to cook it tonite and will provide an update on the Level 6 Evaluation of Yum Factor :)
